1.    Safety

We make every effort to keep the classroom safe. Please tell us if there is anything further you would like us to do. Also, please be aware that for safety reasons we do not encourage moving around with rhythm sticks.

Putting instruments in mouths is a vital part of every child’s development and therefore we do NOT discourage this in our classes. However, we do ask that any instrument that goes in your child’s mouth be put in our ‘WET’ basket or wiped down with an antibacterial wet wipe (provided). If you wish to wipe down an instrument before your child uses it please feel free. All instruments are sprayed in the box with antibacterial spray after use in the class.

2.    Health

If your child or you are sick, please do not attend class. You may do a makeup instead.

3.    Make Up Classes

You may do up to three make-up classes in any one semester.  Make-ups cannot be carried over to the next semester. A make-up means you can go to any of our classes in Brentwood or Tracy. You do not have to do the makeup class in the week you are missing your regular class, however please try to schedule your make-up in advance by contacting us at (925) 998-3865 or write jodyh@mttracy.com

4.    Talking in Class

You are your child’s role model. Please save your talking to other parents for before and after class, NOT during class.  It is disrespectful to the teacher and to other families. Between the songs is an important time for you and your child to AUDIATE (imagine in you head) the music or rhythm of the previous songs, or to listen to the teacher’s instructions for the next activity. Of course you may need to talk to your child, but try singing your words or intoning them on the resting tone of the previous song to keep the musical atmosphere going.

5.    Previews

If you have a friend genuinely interested in the class for their child or children you may bring them to a class for a free preview (please call and schedule in advance at (925) 998-3865 or write jodyh@mttracy.com).

6.    Guests

You may bring one sibling who is not registered in the program to one class in the session for free.  After that a fee of $11.40 per class is required.  If you would like to bring another child who is not previewing the class (such as an out-of-town guest or a child you are baby-sitting), you may do this once in the semester at no charge.  After that a fee of $15.00 per child guest per class is required.  Contact the center director in advance if you intend to bring a guest to class at (925) 998-3865.

7.    Class Size

Each class is restricted to 12 enrolled children. This does not include siblings under 6 months, guests, or families who may be doing a make-up or preview which may push the class total slightly higher some weeks.

8.    Refunds

No refunds will be given after the second week of classes.  The $36.00 materials fee (for the CDs, songbook, and Parents’ Guidebook) will not be refunded unless the materials are returned unused and unopened.  The $10.00 registration fee is non-refundable.   The amount of the refund will be pro-rated based upon the number of weeks expired in the session.

9.    Arrive Early

Try to get to class a few minutes early.  Give your child (and yourself) time to settle into the environment, as well as attend to diaper/potty needs, etc.  Children respond well to ritual, and it is very important for you to be at class in plenty of time to relax and enjoy the “Hello Song” with your child.

We are delighted to have you with us for the semester and hope you will really enjoy the classes.  If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call us.
